ANN: Smart Device Framework 2.1

It's official! Smart Device Framework 2.1 is out in the wild. This is more of a maintenance release, but it still has some nice new additions (amongst others: LargeIntervalTimer, ACMStream, RiffStream). The ConnectionManager has had an overhaul and we've split out the OpenNETCF.WindowsCE.Messaging namespace into a separate assembly to help componentize the framework.

Specific to the Extensions, we've made it a little easier for you to add new items to your projects by adding some new options to the code window context dialog. Now just a right-click away, you can add new classes, forms, components as well as add assembly references and web references. Personally, I've been using this for a week or so now, I find it invaluable. No more dragging the cursor all the way over the side of the screen (my display is running at 1920x1200), I just right-click and away I go. Here's a screenshot of the new context menu options:

We'll be contacting existing customers who purchased SDF 2.0 in the next few days with details of the upgrade path.

Great job! Congratulation!

How to get the upgrade package? Is it free from 2.0 up tp 2.1?

BTW, I rated this article with 4 stars, but system show 3 stars only.

Good news, and that will be a useful addition to a lot of programmers portfolios.

One question however, where has the 1.4 online documentation gone to, it is linked from http://www.opennetcf.com/Default.aspx?tabid=91 but doesn't actually take you to it...
